The name of this village is known throughout Japan for its villagers' organic cultivation efforts that have been underway for over 30 years. Having begun to harbor doubts about agriculture that utilizes chemical fertilizers and pesticides without due consideration, the villagers were finally able to show that the cultivation of delicious rice and vegetables under pesticide-free conditions is possible after several failed attempts and relentless trial and error to protect their "food and health."
