There are certain procedures to be followed based on existing laws and regulations such as the Food Sanitation Act and the Hotel Business Act for requests such as using the food harvested during hands-on agricultural operations in the preparation of dishes or staying at a private accommodation. Capital investment may be required in some cases and we were unable to easily cater to the request of visitors.
For this reason, "Shimane Rural Tourism" was introduced in Shimane prefecture to allow residents who have registered with the Shimane Rural Tourism Promotion Council to offer culinary and accommodation services in connection with a hands-on experience of rural areas as long as visitors observe certain basic rules.
