Experience content Try your hand at picking sweet, delicious blueberries. Blueberries are rich in anthocyanins and other nutrients, a fact that has been attracting increasing attention in recent years. The flavor of freshly picked blueberries is particularly sweet, and you can eat as many as you like. The berries can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. You can eat them on the spot or take some home for use in jam or yogurt.
You can also make a smoothie together with Ms. Yamaoka.

Harvesting of seasonal vegetables and farming / Strolling around the area

detail

Experience category Rural Area-Specific Experiences/Nature Experiences
Period All seasons except winter
Suitable age group Please inquire
Fee Included in the traditional house experience fee.
Things to bring Long sleeves, full-length pants, comfortable shoes, hat, etc.
Necessity of reservation Accepted (Up to 1 week before arrival)
Experience content In this agricultural experience, you can try harvesting vegetables, reaping rice and more.
Because Kanamachi is 500 meters above sea level, the temperature is relatively low, and frost forms in the cold season. The temperature difference increases the sweetness of the produce here. As a result, the products of the area are exceptionally delicious — not only vegetables like tomatoes, but also rice, water and so on.
Exactly what you can experience depends on the season, but so long as you immerse yourself in farming and forget time while gazing on the mountain range, you can forget the stresses of everyday life for a while.
This experience is highly effective for melting away stress.

Experience content The practitioner, Ms. Yamaoka, always keeps in mind that food is the basis of health. She makes sure to keep a range of ingredients on hand that can provide all the nutrients that the body requires. Ms. Yamaoka has even worked on a cookbook of traditional cuisine.
Ms. Yamaoka's okonomiyaki pancakes are quite unique. She mixes the rice flour with brown rice flour and adds ingredients like Japanese yam, Japanese mustard spinach and seaweed to create a healthy dish that is rich in protein, dietary fiber and other nutrients. She also serves traditional cuisine from Kanagi and countryside dishes passed down through the generations, including carrot sushi and black soybean rice. These healthy dishes are highly nutritious and look beautiful. Of course, the flavors are also superb.
We also recommend the tofu and amazake making experience. You can enjoy cooking while listening to Ms. Yamaoka's nutrition lesson.
