Konnyaku-making experience

detail

Experience category Culinary Experiences
Period Please contact us
Suitable age group Nothing
Number of participants 1 to 5 people
Time required Around 2 hours
Fee 1,000 yen per person (Free for children under elementary school age)
Things to bring Apron, clothes that you don't mind getting dirty
Necessity of reservation Accepted (Up to 1 week before arrival)
Experience content Konnyaku can be easily found in supermarkets these days. As a staple of Japanese food culture since ancient times, konnyaku used to be made from konjac potatoes that were grown at home by each family.
At "Furusato no Aji, Nanten," you can experience making konnyaku from konjac potatoes under the guidance of the landlady.
As the landlady makes konnyaku every day, she will give you detailed instructions and answer any questions that you might have.

After making konnyaku, you can sit down in Nanten's guest room for tea and lively conversations while being surrounded by the landlady's handmade rural dishes. Of course, you will also get to try dishes that contain konnyaku made specially by the landlady.
Homemade konnyaku is surprisingly free from any raw odors. It tastes delicious even if you slice it thinly and eat it raw like sashimi or with vinegar miso dressing. You can also bring home the konnyaku that you have made.
Note Activity-only itineraries are also possible.
